Rules
"The Fruit Cup" Competition Rules
1 - This Competition is a BJCP-sanctioned homebrew competition open to all homebrewers. An entrant is one or more people submitting an entry. Member(s) of an entrant must have actively contributed to brewing, fermenting, and bottling an entry. Every member must be at least 21 years of age. An entrant may not be an entire brew club. Competition staff, judges, and stewards are permitted to be entrants. Professional Brewers are permitted to be entrants as long as the entry was not brewed on commercial equipment
2 - All entries will be picked up from drop-off locations on the day of the drop-off deadline.
3 - All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).
4 - The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries or entries that arrived damaged.
5 - The competition organizers reserve the right to combine judging styles and to restructure awards as needed, depending on the quantity and quality of entries.
6 - Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. The average of the scores will rank each entry in its category. Each flight will have at least one BJCP judge.
7 - The competition committee reserves the right to combine overall style categories based on the number of entries. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style they were originally entered in.
8 - The Best of Show judging will be determined by a Best of Show panel based on a second judging of the top winners.
9 - Submitted bottles/cans become the property of the competition.
10 - The official style guidelines for this competition are the 2021 BJCP guidelines.
Entry Acceptance Rules
Number of Bottles Required Per Entry: 2
All entries must be fruit-based beers. The fruit must play a significant role in the aroma, flavor, or color of the beer.
Acceptable fruit includes whole fruit, fruit juice, fruit puree, fruit extracts, or concentrates. No artificial fruit flavors or colorings are allowed.
When entering beer information, you MUST include: base style, fruits/spices/specialty adjunct ingredients used, and any possible allergens.
Entries will be judged in general categories and style, such as:
IPA
Ales
Lagers
Experimental/Hybrid
Etc
Final grouping is subject to change based on the total number of entries and base style types.
Each entry is $15. All Entries must be paid before or with drop off via PayPal.
No member of an entrant may submit another entry of the same subcategory, whether as an individual entrant, a member of the same entrant, or a member of another entrant.
Each entry will consist of capped bottles or sealed cans that are void of all identifying information, including labels and embossing.
Two 12oz brown glass bottles are preferred; however, green will be accepted. Swing top bottles will likewise be accepted, as well as 12oz and 16oz cans.
Every entry must be submitted with a bottle identification label attached to each bottle with a rubber band. Using glue or tape to secure the labels to the bottles will disqualify an entry. Bottle labels for a single entry must have the same information on both bottles.
If mailing in your entries we encourage you to add cold packs and protective padding in addition to speedy shipping. (The competition organizers are not responsible for entries that arrive damaged or entries that arrive outside of the scheduled timeframe.)
Also, we recommend to everyone to put your printed out entry papers in a ziplock bag and double rubber band it to your bottles/cans.
Because of the nature of the contest, special categories may be used depending on the number of entrants.
Submitted bottles/cans become property of the competition.
Bottles/cans will not be returned to contest entrants.
